The Bitterroot Composite Lumber Company (BCLC) is a Montana corporation that will be building an extrusion plant in Darby, a small, formerly timber-dependent community in the beautiful Bitterroot Valley in western Montana. BCLC will directly contribute to the economic revitalization of the southern Bitterroot Valley by providing good paying jobs, profit for investors, and ecological restoration. This business is therefore dedicated to the “triple bottom line” approach that is concerned with the economic, social, and ecological needs of the community.
The plan is to combine wood fiber from small diameter timber and wood waste, and polyethylene from post consumer recycled plastic, to make building material for deck construction and other outdoor use. This enterprise will provide a market for wood fiber generated by necessary fuels reduction and restoration projects on private and public forest lands. BCLC will also spur recycling by creating a market for post-consumer high density polyethylene (HDPE) and help to develop community collection programs benefiting public schools.
Our decking will be marketed under the brand name MONTANADEX, will be ecologically sound and utilize STRANDEX technology for superior quality and strength.
